Why Should We Punish the Body for An Hour at Least?

  • I am certain the subject matter would lead to raised eyebrows, condescension, and maybe a little ambiguous thought process kicking in equal measure within the deep recess of the brain to comprehend what is being attempted here. The very mention of punishment is bound to evoke a mixture of emotions that is not easy to either control or discern because of the conditioning we all would have undergone while growing up. When we all were taking baby steps in this beautiful world, the punishment meted out in various forms and from various sources would have had a deep impact subconsciously staying with us right through our growth. Generation after generation has endured this phenomenon that was so common across the growing-up spectrum.

  • Of course, none can lay claim to the fact that they weren’t subjected to one or the other form of punishment during the initial days of our progress. Right from the parents, siblings, relatives, and teachers have had their share of using the stick and/or bare hands in physically striking us. None can deny it. What I am advocating here is to physically punish the body to stay fit as the modern-day lifestyle is anything but conducive to maintaining peak health. How many of us have not heard about the adage health is wealth? We have heard enough about this adage at various stages of our growing-up years. The moot point to ponder over here is how many of us devote enough time, attention, resource, and intention to uphold the same.
  • A very minuscule percentage I must mention. We are aware of how the human body structure is designed by the creator that is programmed to respond in a preset manner that cannot be altered by mere mortals like us. Despite the unimaginable technological progression witnessed by humankind since time immemorial, the basic tenet of human physiology hasn’t undergone much change vis-à-vis staying healthy and/or fit. This assumes significant importance in the present day as the sedentary lifestyle prevalent ensures our physical well-being is greatly compromised. Individuals developing lifestyle diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and other such illnesses are quite prevalent for want of adequate physical exercise. That is what I meant while mentioning punishment in the subject headline. Punish the body to ensure health stays at its optimum.

  • Yes, the fast-paced modern world demands more attention from us than ever before. The increasingly chaotic pressure-filled atmosphere widely prevalent keeps us staying relevant in the mad race but at the cost of compromising our health. Remember, there are 24 hours for each one of us, and how we manage it largely depends on prioritizing our needs. I am firmly of the opinion that one hour must be dedicated to physical exercises which have been proved beyond doubt by health and wellbeing experts to keep us in a better shape, physically as well as mentally. The majority would profess to have little time to spare, but trust me, once you develop a practice to indulge in any physical activity, it becomes a habit. Go for it, and one hour of exercise at least!
