- People in the know would never disagree that certain events of great importance have the inherently built power, pull, traction, and heft to not only unite the entire countrymen but also provide a common ground to celebrate an exceptional achievement. Of course, there are rarely such occurrences that provide for a completely exhilarating experience when every countryman feels elated to witness a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment. Some of them readily qualify as the rarest of achievements, making people feel honored and extremely proud to associate. Moreover, such triumphs also provide a platform for all people irrespective of class, creed, religion, and language to become one to experience the unique occurrence fully.

- Yes, incidents of the past in the form of winning wars against all odds have immensely contributed the countrymen to feeling extremely proud of the nation. History is replete with such incidents when the nation has had to endure some grave challenges. We have had intrusion from the Western and the Eastern borders in the past. India as a nation also had to endure three wars with our Western neighbour Pakistan winning resoundingly on all occasions. We know how proud the nation felt when our brave soldiers mesmerizingly fought against the enemy to safeguard our sovereignty time and again. Several soldiers were martyred too while fighting for the safety and security of the country. Unquestionably, the nation must be indebted to those bravest soldiers!
- Indeed, the intrusions and cross-border terrorism perpetrated from across the borders continue unabated even now. Scores of soldiers have laid down their lives during peaceful times too fighting an enemy hell-bent on fomenting trouble from different quarters. Likewise, extraordinary achievements viz. winning global sporting events and seemingly unachievable accomplishments also enjoy the magnetism to unite countrymen leading to unalloyed feelings of exhilaration. Look not far from the cricket World Cup triumph of 1983 when Kapil Dev captained the team and won the 50-over final against the West Indies. The entire country celebrated the occasion with such enthusiasm that it was a sight and experience to behold for eternity.

We also bask in the glory of such achievements letting our inhibitions down. The ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 successful soft landing on the south pole of the Moon must be ranked as one of those moments when the entire nation felt an inexplicable feeling of pride completely soaking in the celebratory atmosphere prevalent around. What an emotion it must have been for the scientists and engineers involved in the mission. These are important milestones that help in forging a sense of belonging among the countrymen.
