THE POPULAR ADAGE ‘SILENCE SHOULD SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS’ DOESN’T APPLY TO TRUMP!

  • The situation in West Asia/the Middle East is spiralling out of control, in the aftermath of the US-Israel-Iran war that nobody wishes to have happened in the first place. As we know, the global community is perennially in the grip of the debilitating effects of conflicts around the world, leaving many economies struggling to stay afloat. One of the most destructive outcomes of the war, apart from the usual loss of lives and property, is the counterproductive effects on energy supplies. The whole world is mostly reliant on the critical energy supplies from West Asia/the Middle East, catering to our needs greatly.  The disruptions caused have already singed the whole universe in more than one way, with the GDPs severely impacted by the energy curtailment.

  • Now, we are aware that Donald Trump has already inflicted several extremely debilitating measures on humankind ever since assuming the office of the presidency. While he bombastically claimed during the election campaign not to allow any unyielding wars to take place, what Trump has accomplished is precisely the opposite. Unfortunately, hollow claims have become increasingly familiar with the several regions up in flames, courtesy of his inability to rein in warring nations, and his proclivity to fish in troubled waters without caring about the consequences. The mootpoint to ponder over here is whether Trump’s advisers are unable to present the pragmatic geopolitical scenario to the leader, compelling him to act wisely.

  • Another aspect that deserves attention is to dissect to know whether Trump really goes through the briefs by reading the emerging, potential, and prospective situation about the world at large. As reported recently, Trump is not a big reader. By some accounts, he doesn’t read at all, not even one-page memos, supposedly. This being the case, it’s likely he hasn’t read this famous Lincoln quote: Better to remain silent and be thought afool, than to speak out loud and remove all doubt. Fairly certain, in fact, after the way he dissed Macron recently, wading into the French first couple’s private life. Macron, wisely, didn’t turn it into a slanging match. But what he said – Maybe you shouldn’t be speaking every day….there is too much chatter – is good universal advice, you see.

  • We humans speak too much anyway. And Trump’s rantings, profanities, impetuous proclamations, and bombastic claims have become too familiar. On a lighter note, although some cultures are more garrulous than others, a study across the US, Australia, Serbia, and Switzerland found women averaged 13,349 words daily, and men 11,950. For better comprehension, if we consider that the first Harry Potter book has only 76,994 words, women would out-speak it in six days. And some outliers average 120,000 words a day – 7,500 each waking hour. So, the Whole War & Peace in five days. Most worryingly, Trump started his war on February 28, and isn’t anywhere closer to Peace after seven plus weeks. He still speaks of guns, bombs, and peace. Trump appears increasingly frustrated with how things are panning out in the latest war. Talk sense for a change, please!
