Bumrah’s ability to not only tie down the batters but also pick up wickets without conceding many runs when the team needs has served the purpose of Team India tremendously. On top of it, he is an all-format bowler, showcasing his gifted talent time and again, propelling the cause of the team manifold. Little wonder, the captain in red/white ball always looks up to and expects Bumrah to bail out the team during a crisis.

- Representing Mumbai Indians (MI) in the extremely popular and much-coveted IPL T20 Tournament, Bumrah has rarely missed the marquee league even though the BCCI has allowed him to forego some other previous bilateral series. The often-quoted reason is workload management. The moot point to ponder here is what is more important than representing the country or the franchise-based league. The IPL is a domestic league but is extremely popular with an unprecedented reach/following, attracting the best talent/performers. However, the BCCI and Team India management should ensure Bumrah is available in peak condition to represent in Tests as well as important white-ball tournaments as well. Maybe he should take a break from one or the other format to ensure longevity.
