However, it’s fascinating as well as intriguing to note how some of the achievements over millennia have completely transformed the way we go about living our lives, contrary to valid/not-so-valid apprehensions raised by the naysayers. Here, one of the most defining factors that deserves our attention and appreciation is human resolve to realise the stated objectives.

  • As history is replete with so many inspirational experiences/stories, we are bound to consider wholeheartedly adapting a few that could alter our own growth trajectory for the good. As we are aware, the physical process of birthing, growing, adapting, ageing, and finally dying after traversing the ups and downs along the way has intrigued people of various hues no end. However, what hasn’t changed is how quickly or belatedly we are enlightened about enjoying the journey of life in a pragmatic manner. Also, we are aware of the oft-repeated maxim – age is just a number – which compels us to view life holistically by wondering how Mother Nature succeeds so seamlessly generation after generation, allowing mere mortals to defy logic.

  • Make no mistake, we have heard enough of inspirational talks, positive mental attitude lectures, books on positivity, and motivational/morale-boosting exhortations about how age is just a number and what matters ultimately is what goes between the ears. Not for nothing, it is mentioned that mind over matter, you see. The moment the mind decides and sets out to achieve anything/something/everything, half the battle is won. The challenge lies in making the mind resolve/commit to achieving whatever is decided upon to begin with. The first initial steps are challenging, as is apparent. No sooner than we keep repeating the same over a period, the process automatically becomes a part of our conditioning that remains intact despite distractions. Simple.

A recent article in a prominent newspaper about a 97-year-old gentleman running marathons really made one feel overwhelmed by the sheer grit exhibited by the nonagenarian. While half his age may simply give up, citing various excuses to lead a sedentary and/or unfulfilled life, the gentleman’s challenges against the perceived social norms/notions are a matter of pride and wonderment indeed. The mind-blowing achievements are not only truly inspirational but also force us to probe deep within to make up our minds to push boundaries determinedly. Let’s bury the excuses by embracing the challenges without any doubts/self-restricting thoughts.
