Female Genital Mutilation

India witnessed a first of its kind outrage against FGM (female genital mutilation) on United Nation’s International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM. A group of 50 FGM survivors have launched a month-long campaign in order to sensitise the people about this gruesome practice in Mumbai.

Campaign against female genital mutilation launched!

The campaign named, ‘Each One Reach One’ has been launched by the advocacy group, ‘Speak Out on FGM’. The campaign has been launched as a petition on Change.org that asked for banning FGM in India. And, it has gained large public support till now.

What is Female Genital Mutilation?

Female genital mutilation (FGM) is also known as female circumcision and female genital cutting. It is the ritual that involves removal of some or all of the external female genitalia. And, it is typically carried out by a traditional circumciser using a blade, with or without anaesthesia.

Survivor’s view!

One of the survivors who underwent this ritual at a tender age said, ‘At seven, I was subjected to FGM in Mumbai in an unhygienic condition and in a clandestine manner. The shock, the physical and psychological trauma of that day is still fresh in my mind’.

She further added, ‘I am happy that thousands of survivors are joining this campaign not only from India, but also from Canada, Australia, South Africa, Britain etc’.

Another survivor from Delhi said, ‘Each One, Reach One’ campaign will reach out to men and women alike and share experiences openly and expects to engage more people to break their silence on FGM.

  2. I am the co-founder of JustCBD company (justcbdstore.com) and I’m presently aiming to expand my wholesale side of company. It would be great if anybody at targetdomain can help me 🙂 I considered that the most ideal way to accomplish this would be to talk to vape companies and cbd stores. I was really hoping if someone could recommend a qualified web site where I can get CBD Shops Business Email Addresses I am currently checking out creativebeartech.com, theeliquidboutique.co.uk and wowitloveithaveit.com. Not sure which one would be the most suitable choice and would appreciate any advice on this. Or would it be simpler for me to scrape my own leads? Suggestions?
