Many people avoid alcohol for religious and health reasons. But few things contain alcohol which is hidden in them, well in low amounts. You will be surprised by looking at certain things of our daily use, that have been found with traces of alcohol.

1. Cough syrup
I am sure you would have had at least one cough syrup in your life. These cough syrups contain 10 to 40 percent of alcohol in them. I am sure you would have read the advice on the bottle, to be taken as per doctors’ advice. So can this be a reason of feeling sleepy post drinking the cough syrup?

3. Honey buns
These are sweet rolls from the American origin, they are somewhat similar to the cinnamon bun. These have become an iconic food and currency in US prisons, where the prison commissaries sell them. They are also a popular food to snack on in prison with traces of alcohol in it.
4. Sugarless gums
Chewing gum which come along with a label of “sugar-free” or “no sugar added” on it actually contain sugar alcohols in it. These sugar alcohols provide fewer calories as compared to sugar and have very less effect on the blood glucose levels.
5. Protein bars
Sugar alcohol is different from the regular alcohol. Protein bars contain sugar alcohol. Sugar alcohols are actually reduced-calorie sweetener, they are also found in ice creams, puddings, candies, cookies, and chewing gum.
6. Sanitisers
Surprised? I am sure you much be thinking is there any relation between alcohol and the sanitisers. Reports have revealed that sanitisers that contain alcohol, have better effects on killing the micro-organisms. The level of alcohol content in these sanitisers varies between 60% to 85%.
7. Mouthwash
Feeling weird? We use mouthwash every morning. Yes mouthwash contain alcohol content which is very high, around 30% alcohol. So what if you gulp some very morning? People who love drinking will not mind, what say!
8. Perfumes and colognes
The perfumes and colognes contain 50-90% of alcohol. Be very careful as they are poisonous. Consider keeping all the perfume bottles away from children.
9. Windshield wiper fluid
The fluid that is used to wipe windshield of the car contains alcohol. Be careful with it as it is poisonous if consumed.
10. Household cleaning products
Many house hold cleaning products like, bleach, dish washing soaps, glue, laundry detergent and air fresheners contain alcohol content in them.
11. Energy drinks
Few energy drinks available in the market can actually leave you a little woozy, as these contain alcohol. I am sure many people have just no clue about it.
