LG 360 VR: LG Unveils Foldable VR Headset To Take On Samsung’s Gear VR

With the unveiling of LG 360 VR at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), LG is getting into virtual reality in a big way. The company has got its own VR headset to go toe-to-toe with the Samsung’s Gear VR.

LG 360 VR unveiled at MWC!

LG is taking on Samsung’s Gear VR this year with this announcement. LG’s virtual reality headset will compliment the LG G5. The LG 360 VR glasses will gonna plug directly into the LG G5’s USB-C port. And, to control what is found through the glasses; the LG G5 will serve as a touch-pad.

The LG 360 VR has two displays, 1.88 inches each. Both the displays have 960x720px of resolution each. It is compatible with Google Cardboard and also YouTube 360 content.

Samsung Gear VR

Samsung Gear VR is a mobile virtual reality device, released on 27th November, 2015. It is developed by Samsung Electronics in collaboration with Oculus VR. It is designed to work with Samsung’s flagship smartphones, which includes Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. And, the smartphone has to be paired with the Oculus app.

Unlike the Oculus Rift, the LG 360 VR does not need a dedicated desktop computer to power it; rather it connects to the LG G5 via USB 3.0 and relies on it to do all the heavy lifting. And, with a weight of just 117 grams; the 360 VR is also one of the lightest VR headsets available in the market.

Pricing and availability

No pricing information of the 360 VR has been disclosed yet by the LG. However, it is expected to ship alongside the LG G5 in April.
