Dallas police a day after issuing a statement saying that they had closed their investigation into an alleged domestic assault by Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel confirmed on Friday that they are starting a new criminal investigation after a domestic violence assault complaint was filed.
Police open investigation against Johnny Manziel!
The Dallas police said in a statement, ‘Today the Dallas Police Department received a complaint of a domestic violence assault, which occurred in Dallas on 30th January, 2016’.
They further added, ‘A criminal investigation into the incident, in which Johnathan Manziel is the listed suspect, has been initiated by them. As there are many emotional factors involved, it’s not uncommon for a victim of domestic violence to question or delay reporting an assault’.
Dallas police closed earlier investigation!
This move came just a day after the police had said that they have closed an investigation into domestic violence allegations, in which Johnny Manziel had hit Colleen Crowley, his ex-girlfriend, in an incident, which started last Saturday at a downtown Dallas hotel, and that he wouldn’t face any charges.
Fort Worth police report!
According to a Fort Worth police report which released on Thursday stated that Manziel had allegedly struck Crowley several times in downtown Dallas at the Hotel ZaZa last Saturday.
The report further stated that Johnny Manziel and Crowley had left the hotel after Johnny struck her. He then drove them to Crowley’s apartment in Fort Worth. And, Crowley told officers that she and Johnny had shouted angrily at each other during the drive, and that he had also struck her several more times.
Crowley’s statement!
Crowley released a statement to WFAA on Friday night saying, ‘On Feb. 5, I met with domestic violence specialists at the Dallas Police Department’. She further added, ‘I provided them with a complete description of the events on the night of 29th January and answered their questions. I don’t know what will happen next with this case that will be up to the Dallas Police Department. I am hopeful that everyone will understandably respect my wish for privacy at this time’.
Johnny Manziel’s statement!
Also, Johnny Manziel, in an interview with TMZ Sports posted on its website later Thursday, said on the claims, in which he struck his ex-girlfriend, ‘It didn’t happen’. He further said, ‘I’m completely stable. I’m safe and secure’.
