  • The Pakistani army, read chief Asim Munir, must be under pressure to retaliate against India for not only undertaking the most flawlessly planned, precisely executed, and ensuing targets met in the form of Operation Sindoor on terror factories but also the manner with which Indian armed forces were able to penetrate deep into enemy territory. The Indian Union Government authorizing the armed forces with a free hand to plan an appropriate response signifies two aspects in no uncertain manner. One, the country’s complete faith in the operational capabilities of our armed forces. Two, showing the global community that we do not get easily swayed away by the hyperbolic narrative. It’s a masterstroke by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • Operation Sindoor has conclusively demonstrated to the whole world the capabilities of the Indian armed forces striking deep into the enemy territory. A word about the strong leadership shown by the Prime Minister-led Union Government is par for the course. We are used to hearing the word strategic restraint from the earlier governments, not showing any inclination to precipitate matters despite being subjected to unwarranted acts of cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Innocent killings were rampant. In a refreshing change, PM Modi has shown time and again that India can no longer be taken for granted by Pakistan’s deep state establishment or the army by indulging in acts of terrorism and going scot-free without a sound retribution.

  • Now that the objective of hitting the terror targets has been achieved courtesy of Operation Sindoor and justice delivered to the families of the victims, the focus should shift to how the Pakistani army will respond, since the domestic pressure to act will be increasing by the minute. Notably, great care was taken by India not to hit military or civilian sites in the pre-dawn attack in Pakistan and PoK. Indian has emphasized that it struck terror camps in the light of credible warnings of more Pahalgam-like attacks. The intent is non-escalatory, but it’s up to Pakistan not to allow things to go out of control. Mind you, India does not harbour terrorists, and if Pakistan attacks Indian military or civilian targets, the responsibility for what happens afterwards is on it.

  • Unfortunately, Pakistan has already attempted to target border areas cutting across J&K, Punjab, and Rajasthan, but has been successfully thwarted by the alert Indian defence forces. It’s time the saner voices in Pakistan rein in blustering army chief Asim Munir before he embarks on a definite suicidal mission. He must know that China cannot be counted here. In a careful statement, China has termed India’s action regrettable and urged both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability. Undoubtedly, India has the bigger stomach for a fight, unlike Pakistan, which is tottering on the brink of grave economic meltdown. Indian has held its nerve, as can be seen with the steady stock market indexes. The new India is confident and every ready to pay back.
