- It’s worth reiterating yet again that there simply is no place for people and belief systems that are anachronistic, cringeworthy, unreasonable, irrelevant, and completely devoid of rationality in modern society, aiming for higher glories. In the context of India, the present dispensation at the Centre vociferously exhorts us to believe that the country is headed towards getting recognized as the most advanced by the year 2047. Yes, India is an aspirational society eagerly looking forward to not being left behind in the global pecking order. As the whole world knows, India is the most populous country with diversity driving it across a large swathe of the landscape with varied ethnicity, language, culture, tradition, and religion dotting every region. It’s fascinating.

- The moot point to ponder over here is that any modern society should be driven by inclusivity, where every citizen is made to feel equal, unbiased, and unaffected by parochial considerations. The Indian Constitution provides us, the citizens, with inalienable rights to protect our interests and a dignified existence. However, the minorities in the country are being targeted by the majority Right-Wing organizations, which should be dealt with strictly in accordance with the rule of law of the land. Some of the recent incidents targeting minority communities do not bode well for the overall image of the country. We take great pride in proclaiming to the world about our ancient heritage and culture that encourages equality irrespective of caste, creed, and class.

- As witnessed in the country, Christmas was marred by the shocking and shameful conduct from mobs declaring allegiance to Bajrang Dal, VHP, and fringe outfits. Most despicably, they ransacked Christmas decorations, disrupted and harassed carol singers and Christmas gatherings, stormed schools and churches, heckled even poor vendors selling Santa caps. These deplorable incidents were captured on video in Delhi, Haryana, Odisha, Kerala, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Have the police taken cognizance? Have FIRs been filed under BNS Sections 196(2) and 299 for promoting enmity between groups and outraging religious sentiments? Are any of the hooligans, easily identifiable from public footage, arrested?

- Or do they roam free and confident, assured of protection? BJP has sought an explanation from its Jabalpur party senior for her shocking behaviour towards a visually impaired Christian woman inside a church. But that’s not nearly enough. All are guilty of disrupting communal harmony during a festival joyously celebrated across India’s cities. It is for the BJP, which has a new party chief, and RSS to put a stop to the militancy against minority faiths by some parivaar outfits, who seem increasingly emboldened. They harm the party and are anti-Hindu. Period. No Hindu will endorse such brutality in the name of their faith. The United Christian Forum has alleged over 600 incidents this year. The BJP leadership should act decisively and take deterrent action.
