Jasprit Bumrah is a Wonderful Bowler Deserving to be No.1 in Test Ranking!

  • Cricket connoisseurs and fans alike would be unanimous in declaring that the ace pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is a very special talent that has come as a boon not only for the Indian team but also for the cricketing world at large. The uniquely talented bowler with a freakish delivery action was always considered different from the conventional fast bowlers since making his debut. Mind you, unlike conventional fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah does not possess a long runup before delivering those thunderbolts. The wiry and lanky pacer has a relatively short runup and accelerates nearer to the crease delivering at a brisk pace unsettling some of the well-accomplished batters of the era.

  • As is its won’t, several cricket pundits, experts, ex-cricketers, and commentators were known to express their concerns about the consequences of a bowling action that is anything but superb. The amount of stress and load on the shoulders, back, and lower body was always in play when Bumrah was creating waves among the cricketing fraternity. Unfortunately, the load piled on the body did prove to be detrimental as Bumrah had to undergo rehabilitation for almost a year following a back injury. As you are aware, Bumrah is an all-format player who not only represents the country but also plies his trade with the franchise-based Indian Premier League too. Mumbai Indians without Bumrah cannot be fathomed at all. Such is his impactful presence, you see.
  • Of course, Team India is always blessed with some of the finest pace bowlers ever having graced the cricketing field with distinction. Look not far from the peerless Kapil Dev, effective Javagal Srinath, sultan of swing Zaheer Khan, and artful Mohammed Shami just to name a few. These remarkable pace bowlers have served the Indian team with distinction for years. Now, Bumrah is joining the elite pantheon of Indian pace bowlers grabbing the attention of the cricket world through exceptional exploits on the field. Team India has suffered whenever Bumrah tended to sit out courtesy of various reasons, including injuries. In the same vein, he has been a decisive factor in Team India’s wins while being part of the team on numerous occasions of late.

  • The recently concluded 50-over cricket World Cup in India saw how skillful, masterful, and menacing Bumrah can be in the usual pace bowler’s nightmarish experience of playing in flat pitches. The ongoing five-match Test series between India and England once again reaffirmed how Bumrah simply takes out pitch conditions from the equation by producing an artful display of swing and seam movement. The way he bamboozled the English batsmen in the second Test at Vizag is simply astonishing and worthy of praise. Cleaning up established batsmen of pedigree calls for some serious skills and Bumrah is blessed with the same in abundance. No wonder Bumrah’s consistent performances have led him to be crowned No. 1 in Test ranking, deservedly.
