  • One of the most dreaded years is behind us. Recollecting what went awfully wrong is not the right way to begin a new year but learning to forget and moving ahead by learning from the mistakes would be an earnest effort at redemption for sure. What all of us would be missing over the past few months would be those heart-warming gestures we all were so fond of and used to, yes I am referring to those firm handshakes, warm hugging, and of course, an affectionate peck on the cheek. The strictures were introduced to maintain social distancing to thwart the spread of the virus back then will continue into the New Year as well.

  • Trust me, the monumental amount of negative news surrounding the pandemic that has filtered down into our subconscious mind would take months to subdue as complete eradication may not be possible for the next couple of years at least. If voted, the word pandemic would stand heads and shoulders above everything else as the most used expression all around the globe. Such has been the severity of the virus impact having scythed our collective psyche in an uninhibited manner all through those dreaded past months. Getting over the same would serve everybody’s interest in a big way.
  • As known, human beings are by nature yearns for a physical touch of various means is stating the obvious. As elderly citizens were protected from proximate physical approaches for palpable reasons, the children too were often kept away from them at the other end for fear of spreading the contagion. Of course, no school has meant no playfellows to share those friendly vibes children so passionately love to express amongst themselves. However, children are most resilient and they will take back any physical touch in full measure as most hearteningly, the ensuing widespread vaccinations would make it possible again.

  • The wait is not too far away as the rolling out of vaccinations is round the corner. The whole experience of social or to be more precise, physical distancing has brought to the fore the importance of tactile interaction. Experts mention that the skin is like an external nervous system kicking-off stimulation linked to organic growth and cognitive development in children as well as stress management in adults. Sit back and recollect fondly how as children we were all subjected to those traditional oil massages right from our birth to growing up years. No wonder, the oil massage that babies customarily get in India is all about building, cultivating, and nurturing the irrefutable benefits of stimulating the external nervous system.
  • Who will dispute the increased benefits of exercising during lockdowns, as we tried to stimulate the pressure receptors on our hands, feet, etc.? Did anybody say after initial ensconcing inside the comforts of our homes, we all started desperately longing for exterior outings unburdened by the stifling restrictions to stop from venturing out? I bet, we all did indeed sought/fought for those comforting escapades. Hopefully, we all will be able to indulge in positively wallowing shaking of hands, hugging, and of course, affectionate kissing in the coming days. Happy New Year or shall we say Happy News Year!
