Tutankhamun was the renowned teenage pharaoh King Tut who ruled for almost a decade. He became the center of attraction of the world in the year 1924, when a Birtish Archaeologist and Egyptologist uncovered the greatest treasure in the tomb. Tutankhamun became the King of Egypt when he was just 8-9 years old. And, all the decision-making was made with the help of two seniors, Ay and Horemheb respectively.

2. King Tut was the product of his incest!

The ancient Egyptian royals always believed themselves as the descendants of Gods, and that’s the reason they wanted to maintain their pure blood. And, finally researchers in 2010 announced that he was the product of incest between his father, Akhenaten and one of his sisters!

King Tut’s father was a devotee of the God Aten, and had shifted their capital from Thebes to a place devoted to Aten. But, Tutankhamun reversed the radicalism and also shifted their capital again to Thebes, and followed their old God Amun.

4. Death not less than a mystery!

He died at an early age of 19. There were two theories behind his early death. One, he died because of the blow to his head, maybe a clear-cut murder! And second, maybe he died because of the infection which was caused due to leg injury.

Howard first discovered his Tomb on 4th November, 1922. His remains were well preserved in a solid gold coffin.Even, his renowned burial mask is kept for public display in an Egyptian museum.

6. Not buried alone!

Although King Tut didn’t had any child, as his wife had miscarriage twice; but, along with his mummy, two stillborn baby girls were mummified. They were placed inside his Tomb in small coffins.

The Pharaoh’s curse captured the limelight in the media when a series of weird incidents took place after tomb’s discovery. Some people who were involved in this work died shortly afterwards, and that too, with some strange reasons of their death. The media termed all this as ‘The Curse of the Tutankhamun!’

 

Also, Tutankhamun’s name was replaced by his successor, Horemheb on many monuments after his death.
