- People closely following the fortunes of the Indian political class would have admired the relentless march of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s forward surge, with its formidable electoral campaigning machinery at the top. No election is considered lesser or accorded less importance. Right from the panchayat, municipal corporation, state assembly, and parliamentary elections, the BJP’s electoral machinery simply does not understand how to take it easy or slow. Each election is considered extremely important, with no place for any complacency to set in. The BJP means business whenever any election takes place. Little wonder the campaigning, planning, preparation, and execution from the BJP remain in the top gear. The results are wonderful, too.

This is where the BJP is scoring handsomely election after election to some of the most crucial states ever since the last Parliamentary elections. We know how the BJP could not muster a clear majority on its own in the last Lok Sabha polls. When the poll pundits made predictions that the BJP may be looking at a downturn vis-à-vis popularity, following, and winning electoral battles under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the spectacular manner with which the saffron brigade bounced back in the subsequent state assembly elections is a revelation. Some of the crucial state assembly elections have proved beyond doubt that the BJP is on the rise again, consolidating gains.

- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Bihar were monumental victories for the BJP-led NDA, overturning not only predictions from the psephologists but also overarching narration from the opposition. These resounding wins amply demonstrate how the BJP-led NDA’s narrative about the nation’s growth prospects has been given a thumbs-up without any ambiguity. Of course, the municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra had garnered significant attention within the country simply because the richest corporation, Mumbai, was going to the polls after years of delay. However, the results have yet again demonstrated who is ahead when it comes to winning the mandate.

- The opposition crying hoarse over vote chori allegations has failed to cut much ice with the discerning electorate. Consistently rising allegations without enough backing with the evidence about vote theft don’t appear to impress the electorate in several states. Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections have favoured the Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP big-time. The BJP has been the single largest party, relegating the legacy enjoyed by Bal Thackeray to the back burner. Yes, the opposition is again making false allegations about vote theft. But the fact of the matter is, the BJP-led alliance has progressed steadily, winning the mandate hands down. The BJP will now be eyeing to win over West Bengal in the coming months.
