Team India crossed the final hurdle by taming the South Africans in the finals of the T20 World Cup in Kensington Oval, Barbados in a thriller of a final. Team India emerged as the winner even though it appeared briefly that the South Africans would romp home quite comfortably. But this Team India had a great belief to not throw in the towel yet.
- The way skipper Rohit Sharma has marshaled the troop in the last few years deserves special mention. Rohit not only set up a template of aggressive cricket while opening the batting but also has shown tremendous understanding of the game by introducing changes tactfully. Unfortunately, Team India faltered in the 50-over World Cup finals against the Aussies last year. But the combo of Rohit Sharma and Head Coach Rahul Dravid were determined to ensure Team India goes the distance in the shortest format of the marquee ICC event. Boy how skillfully Team India dominated the entire tournament without losing a single game to clinch the much-coveted trophy eventually. It must have come as a great relief to Rohit and Rahul with this triumph.

- The team chosen by the combo was carefully selected keeping in mind the conditions prevalent overseas. The faith imposed on the abilities of allrounder Hardik Pandya paid off tremendously. Hardik was superb with the bat and the ball. The spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav marvelously complimented each other. What to say about the way Jasprit Bumrah has evolved as the best bowler in all formats of the game? Little wonder he was the player of the tournament for his commendable exploits. Rahul Dravid has accomplished as a coach what he could not as a player by winning the T20 World Cup. It must be gratifying for Rohit and Rajul to end their T20I career on a high note.
