Terrorism
  • India as a country is quite aware of how our western neighbor Pakistan has positioned itself vis-à-vis fomenting trouble by wholeheartedly embracing, supporting, perpetrating, and relentlessly executing terrorism as a state policy. Right from the independence time that resulted in the partition giving birth to Pakistan as a separate nation, the country has simply embraced a one-point agenda of perpetrating terrorist activities in India where scores of innocent lives have been lost. Unfortunately, Pakistan appears to have not learned any lessons over the decades. Moreover, the military’s hold over the administration in running the country is universally acknowledged. Presently, the country is teetering on the brink of economic collapse too courtesy of ill-advised policies like terrorism & related acts surrounding the very existence of the nation.

  • Of course, Pakistan once blissfully thought it would compete with India on economic parameters. Still, the global community is witness to how India has progressed exponentially to be counted among the best in the world unlike Pakistan languishing at the bottom with a begging bowl to bail it out of severe economic miseries. As the popular saying goes, what you sow, so you reap has shown yet again how Pakistan’s dubious encouragement of inbred terrorism networks has come to haunt it with such vengeance. Remember, there simply cannot be good terrorists as all acts of terrorism are heinous and worthy of condemnation in the strongest possible terms. No wonder, the country finds itself embroiled in debilitating security challenges of its own making.
  • Yes, Pakistan’s security problems are again worsening. But this time the Chinese are burning their fingers too. Indeed, the Chinese leadership should be welcome to join us since we have been at the receiving end of terrorism-related activities for too long. But they are all-weather friends, you see. Recently, the militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tried to storm the Pak Navy base PNS Siddique in Balochistan’s Turbat. This comes close on the heels of an attack on the Gwadar port complex. The common link? China. Gwadar is the centrepiece of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor while the naval base was reportedly hosting Chinese drones. Further, five Chinese nationals were killed by a suicide bomber in northwest Pakistan.

  • These dastardly acts show all is not well with CPEC projects that have increasingly come to be seen as robbing Pakistan’s poor for the benefit of the military elite. Minerals-rich Balochistan has long complained about Islamabad’s imperialistic treatment. Now the anger is directed at the general’s best friend Beijing. While the Pak army does provide security for CPEC projects, this hasn’t stopped attacks. But Pakistan is a master at using terrorism for leverage. BLA has been a thorn in Islamabad’s side for years. Yet, if it keeps the Chinese on tenterhooks, that’s leverage the generals wouldn’t mind when they are taking on billions of dollars in Chinese loans. As far as India is concerned, it should continue to keep its guard up and prevent any spillovers of Pak terror.
