Many a times we go to bed on time, but just can’t sleep. Even on days when we are dead tired, it takes a lot of time to get into sound sleep. When we don’t get good sleep, the next day is also disturbed, we feel tired and very less on energy. There are few rituals followed to get to sleep faster, check them out-

1. Go to bed only when you feel sleepy

This is one of the easiest way to sleep faster. Many people follow strict routines to go to bed, but how many actually sleep immediately? It is advised to go to bed only when you actually are feeling sleepy. There is no point staring at walls, clock, phone and changing position on beds. It will not help but leave you even more frustrated. If you are not feeling sleepy, do some activities to that you like doing, but get to bed only when you are ready to sleep.

If you want to sleep faster, then try to follow a routine, because changing these times might disturb your schedule totally and keep you away from sleep. The best example that many may connect to is, sleeping late on Saturdays, ever thought why Sunday passes off so soon. Yes, because half the day goes by sleeping on unscheduled hours.

3. Switch off all the lights

Another simplest trick to sleep faster. Many of us just don’t get sleep in a room which has lights coming in. To sleep a long and peaceful sleep it needs complete darkness. Make sure you switch off all the lights, close the doors and windows and pull the curtain before you go to sleep. As any light flowing in your room can act as a great distraction to your sleep.

4. Listen to soft music

Talking about music I do not mean high volume rock and dancing numbers, but soft and soothing music. This kind of music helps the body to relax, lighter sounds help a lot.

5. No caffeine before sleep

If you really want to sleep faster, then strictly avoid taking caffeine at least 4 hours before sleeping. Products like coffee, tea, cola, chocolate contain caffeine, which prevents you from going into a sound sleep.

When you are trying to sleep, even a ticking clock might make you feel disturbed. Noise can come in from many sources, a snoring husband, road outside, TV noise. Try using ear plugs. As it is impossible to get rid of the noise from outside.

Drinking late at night is not advisable for a good sleep. Well, there are many other reasons too to quit drinking. The breakdown of alcoholic products has stimulating effect. Alcohol makes you feel drowsy and can also give you a bad hangover next morning.

9. Keep all electronic devices away

Electronic devices act as a major distraction to our sleep. Mobile phone, laptops and tablets can keep us awake for hours and also interrupt our sleep in the middle of the night. Keep them absolutely away from your reach, if you want to sleep faster.

10. Say no to Napping

Taking odd naps is something that you should strictly avoid. Try not to sleep during the day as sleeping at odd hours will postpone the time it takes to fall asleep. Adding further it will also make waking up in the morning harder, leaving you feel tired for the entire day.
