The democratic form of governance is built on the premise for the people, by the people, and of the people, where the citizens elect their representatives by conferring responsibility to further their cause on diverse matters. Since the Indian governance is based on the socio-welfare measures, every political party in the fray would wish to build vote banks by concentrating on such strata.

  • Moreover, viewing every criticism through the prism of politics and affiliations to certain ideologies/philosophies will not cut ice with the discerning public. The role of the government is to accept criticism with an open mind and initiate every possible measure to address infrastructural woes bogging the city. Belittling contributions from the business community by reminding them of the government’s support in the beginning is unwarranted. Mind you, the business community took risks, invested heavily, weathered challenges, and handsomely contributed to the growth of the state. It’s quid-pro-quo, a win-win situation, and helping each other grow exponentially. But first, the state government should act on the promises. Period.
