- Make no mistake, even the opposition political parties would concede that there is no other leader of the stature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country who could sway the voters through his unparalleled charisma, aura, popularity, and following. Albeit with a tinge of jealousy, if I may. There is no alternative political leader in the country who can even come closer to Modi’s extremely admirable acceptance among the cross sections of society who tend to believe what the PM proclaims. Mind you, people’s viewpoint of anything associated with politics might still be construed as cynical since the overall narrative tends to always miss the point in the absence of credibility and accountability. This is not the case with Narendra Modi, a big plus for the BJP.

- No wonder, Modi is not only turning out to be the biggest mascot for the Bharatiya Janata Party election after election but also projected as the only credible leader whose assertions mean business. As you are aware, the Grand Old Party came out with a successful poll guarantee scheme in Karnataka catapulting it with an absolute majority by displacing the BJP. As is its wont, Congress believed that the successful template could be replicated elsewhere to reap electoral dividends. The resultant outcome was a slew of guarantees aimed at the women, unemployed, and generally downtrodden strata of society. Most importantly, Congress believed that raking up the caste survey would go a long way in deciding the eventual outcome of the electoral results.
- The voting people on the ground appear to have rejected the caste survey seeing it as a last-ditch attempt by Congress to go one up on the saffron brigade. Remember, the BJP’s poll narrative has been concentrated on growth, development, and effective implementation of several socio-economic measures aimed at every stratum of society. Especially women constituency who are increasingly proving to be decisive in the end. Of course, Congress grossly miscalculated the personal charisma and credibility of Narendra Modi who has grown in stature to such an extent that people cutting across political ideologies have started reposing their faith in the man whose confidence Modi guarantees have started striking a chord with the common citizens.

- Congress scion Rahul Gandhi’s scathing personal attack on Modi has backfired spectacularly. Raking up the alleged link between Adani and Modi has yielded nothing concrete but has only helped further alienate Rahul from the political mainstream whose narrative has failed to cut any ice with the comprehending public. Also, calling Modi panauti – a bad omen – for Team India’s loss in the cricket World Cup has not gone down well with the people either. This proves that Modi’s imposing presence, formidable reputation, widespread acceptance, and ever-increasing trust will be decisive factors in the coming days. Modi will be fronting the BJP from now on and there simply exists no equal match from the opposition to pose a challenge to the juggernaut.
