Assassinations are the dark side of our world. Many say that assassinations are being made for the political or financial reasons; may be to acquire fame, to avenge a grievance or for the money. The world has witnessed such killings and homicides in the past. The assassinations lead to disputes, fears and sometimes wars. Spy agencies of various countries, military, security or insurgent groups practiced the murders of prominent persons which they call the target. Emphatically, the assassins who commit murders are primarily the criminals of the same country or sometimes the spy agents of the attempting country.

We are providing a report of famous assassinations that rocked the world. The assassinations led to disputes, more killings and even wars.

  1. Abraham Lincoln, U.S. President 1865 Abraham Lincoln

This was the time when the USA was trivial over security issues and would less serious on the VVIP security.   A Confederate spy named John Wilkes Booth was angry with Lincoln because of his support for the freedom of African- American. In the presence of only one security guard Booth shot Lincoln in his head and ran away; later on, he was also killed.

 

 

2. Franz Ferdinand, probable heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, 1914 Franz Ferdinand

Franz Ferdinand, an heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire was shot dead by Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Yugoslav independence movement known as Young Bosnia. Princip and his organization eliminated the prince Franz to gain independence from Austria-Hungary and wanted to join Serbia. The killing led to the world towards the World War I which cost several people to die.

 

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi, a leader, an icon of Indian Independence was shot dead by Nathuram Godse. Godse was unhappy with Gandhi’s non-violent approach and opposed Gandhi’s favoritism towards Muslims. He fired three gun shots at Gandhi.

 

 

John F. Kennedy4 .John F. Kennedy, U.S. President, 1963 

There have been many conspiracy theories behind the assassination of Kennedy. The Warren commission set up to inquire the killing, has concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald a former marine acted alone and fired two shots from a building’s 6th floor. The marine was defected to the Soviet Union. It could not be justified that why the killing happened and the exact motive behind it.

 

 

  1. Martin Luther King Jr., leader of the Civil Rights movement, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr

Martin Luther King Jr., an activist, mass leader of the civil right movement in USA. Like Mahatma Gandhi, he was a supporter of the non-violence movement to push the civil rights for African-American people in America. He was shot dead by James Earl Ray, a racist petty criminal. Later it was rumored that Ray was a part of government that plotted the elimination.

 

                   

Benazir Bhutto6. Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, 2007 

Pakistan has seen a bloody history of assassinations and killings of its own rulers. Benazir a former Prime Minister of Pakistan was not the exception. She was shot dead by Al-Qaeda commander Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, who claimed later to assassinate Bhutto over political disputes.

 

 

These assassinations shook the whole world as the murdered people were some highly influential personalities from the political world.
