• Bereft of fresh episodes owing to lockdown wrought by the pandemic raging across the
  world, hugely popular television industry is looking at innovative ideas to hook on the
  viewers to respective channels. Mind you, in an extremely competitive world of television
  industry whose fortunes undergo dramatic changes as TRPs (Television Rating Points) play
  defining roles, industry honchos are making welcome efforts of rerunning extremely popular

• Speaking of millenniums, exposure to present day industry where content, presentation,
  canvas, platforms, grandeur, glitz and reach has witnessed tremendous metamorphosis vis-
  à-vis earlier generation or two in comparison, would most probably find it hard to relate.
  However, older generation would gleefully endorse the decision of Doordarshan to rerun
  iconic and all time classics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, just to name a few. Many are in
  the pipeline too.

• Nostalgically professing, such a move would be appreciatively greeted by many of us as
  reminiscing pleasant occurrences of yesteryears that also included watching path-breaking
  television serials in the company of family paves way for reliving the same yet again. At the
  cost of sounding antiquated to the current generation, there is no denying the fact that
  tightly edited content reigned supreme earlier where great emphasis was laid on delivering
  quality rather than over the top caricaturist performances that are the order of the day

• Though technological advancements viz. streaming quality, Audio/Visual excellence, Special
  Effects and the ilk makes for a compelling grandeur worthy of a watch in the present day
  scenario but the palpable absence of soulful and pertinent content significantly nullifies the
  otherwise extravagant broadcast considerably. Hopefully, reruns of erstwhile classics would
  help present day creators to realize to what extent they may have been adversely swept
  away by the modern day blitzkrieg.

• Dispassionate urging to all those producers and media houses to kindly revert back to those
  tried and tested fundamentals of producing serials where content rules supreme albeit
  aided by all such modern technologies available at their disposal now. In the interim, let us
  sit and enjoy watching the reruns till it lasts alongside our younger lots’ sharing / exchanging
  fond recollections as it unfolds.
