- People closely following the fortunes of the political parties of India would be wondering how the Bharatiya Janata Party admirably manages to surge along one election after another without ever appearing to take the foot off the pedal. For the BJP, every election is treated equally important whether it is a village panchayat, state assembly, by-polls, Rajya Sabha, or for that matter the Lok Sabha elections. We must give it to the formidable election campaign machinery of the BJP for relentlessly attempting to reinvent without showing any signs of fatigue, complacency, or overconfidence. The credit goes to the top leadership team who drive home the point with intent, intensity, and sheer grit right down to the cadre-level party workers. The results are awesome.

- No wonder, the BJP’s electoral campaign always tends to be one step ahead of its rivals not only in conventional electioneering but also in the fast-evolving digital platforms. Extra ingenious methodologies adopted by the BJP are worthy of emulation prompting the opposition ranks to do a catch-up more often than not. Most importantly, the BJP’s top leadership has not let go of the very crucial connection with the cadre on the ground. This is where the saffron brigade scores hands-on as no less than the master strategist Amit Shah himself takes on the onus to minutely plan how to go about the campaign based on close input from the ground. The dividends are handsome as the results of the recently concluded state assembly elections show.
- Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh were always considered extremely crucial for the fortunes of any national party aspiring to make its presence felt at the Centre. The opposition I.N.D.I.A. alliance had dubbed the recently concluded elections as semifinal before the parliamentary elections scheduled in April/May 2024. The Grand Old Party was confident of pulling off electoral successes in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Mind you, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh were governed by Congress. However, what transpired on the day of counting simply defied logic, norm, and general perception. The BJP handsomely went on to win all three states turning the exit-poll predictions on its head.

- By all indications, Congress must be stunned by the eventual results especially Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh’s loss would hurt big-time. As we read this article, cracks are already appearing in the opposition alliance ranks signaling a considerable loss of heft and traction for Congress. The regional parties will be loath to concede the ground to Congress to lead the alliance in the aftermath of these losses. Undoubtedly, the Karnataka win prompted Congress to believe it’s going to repeat the spectacular win elsewhere. Alas! The BJP romped home by some distance. Undeniably, the BJP is on the ascendancy with the wins appearing to be headed to return to power at the Centre in the ensuing parliamentary elections. Congress should do some soul-searching!
