HUMANS CAN STOOP TO ANY LEVEL, INCLUDING INFLICTING CRUELTY ON ANIMALS!

  • Human beings believe they are powerful, unstoppable, next only to the almighty, and showcase instincts bordering on arrogance, as well as condescension towards fellow living beings, nonchalantly. Not stopping at this, humans are perfectly capable of asserting themselves, not minding inflicting cruelty on animals as well. Horrendous tales of how humankind has persistently inflicted cruelty on animals of various hues need no further elaboration. Despite animal rights crusaders and activists taking the cudgel on behalf of the voiceless entities, humans continue to press ahead with inhuman tendencies that have rendered animals and birds suffering atrocities. Yes, people may say it’s the survival of the fittest that should define our very existence. Or is it?

  • Why shouldn’t there be more efforts at harmonious living between humans and other species, as Mother Nature would expect us to be? Unfortunately, we tend to cross the line with absolute impunity in inflicting atrocities on other species, arrogantly. To what extent we stoop can be gauged by the fact that we are using them for business and pleasure, driven by rich consumers. As reported recently, China has taken animal cruelty to another level altogether as consumer-driven markets for business and pleasure are drawing hitherto unknown endeavours which go against the tenet of harmonious coexistence. Is a lion cub a toy? Would Sane people be left befuddled by the very question itself? This shouldn’t even be a question.

China lion restaurant criticized by animal groups

PC: CTV News

  • Unfortunately, in today’s world, the unnatural – wild cats cuddled by humans – is normalized in a reality that’s tranquilized. So, a restaurant in north China’s Taiyuan city has no qualms in offering hugs with drugged lion cubs and a four-course set menu at a grand $150, selling tickets a day. What a travesty! Tickets to a restaurant? Food’s the side dish as the real delight is the cuddles – a performance for the rich to flaunt on social media. Another Chinese hotel trained red pandas to crawl into guests’ beds as a wake-up call, an alarm, in every sense of the word. The Chinese wealthy’s fetish for close and dangerous interactions with wild animals in cities is paralleled only by Latin American drug cartels’ obsession with private zoos of trafficked species.

Smuggled spider monkeys show fight against illegal wildlife trade

PC: Chicago Tribune

Sounds familiar? An Escobar-inspired symbol of status and power. Cruelty underpins all of it. It’s brutal that a spider monkey dressed up as a drug gang mascot should be killed in a Mexican shootout. An escaped Bengal tiger found in a lane along the Pacific had had its claws and fangs removed. Simply put, China’s new wave of cat abuse is vicious. Globally popular cat torture videos are produced mostly in China, which has no animal cruelty laws. China’s insatiable appetite for animal parts for traditional medicine is worse – it drives the global illegal animal trade. Beijing’s periodic crackdowns have little impact on animal cruelty, whether for business or pleasure. It’s pathetic how animals are subjected to such cruelty to make a profit. Will humans show empathy?
