- The political landscape in the country is showing definite signs of change in the form of alliances and friendships being forged from likely to unlikely leaders/parties. Right now, the major movers and shakers on the political firmament are led by the indomitable, aggressive, and maverick Trinamool Congress chief visiting states and meeting up with leaders with a messianic zeal. The West Bengal Chief Minister has clearly set her sights, plans, and moves to position herself as the fulcrum of opposition parties to take on the might of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is interesting if the lady is going to shift her base from state politics to the national center stage.

- Whatever the eventual outcome will be revealed in the coming days but for now, the question she raised deserves to be deliberated upon in right earnest for sure. As the print and electronic media have extensively reported over the last few days, the TMC chief is not mincing words in taking a dig at the Grand Old Party i.e., the Indian National Congress. In her typical brusque manner, she rhetorically questioned where the UPA is in a nonchalant and almost condescending way. Further, what raised eyebrows is the statement she made targeting the Grand Old Party’s scion.
- If you are going abroad to enjoy yourself, how will people trust you, this is what the lady tigress mentioned indirectly questioning the scion’s frequent foreign trips on holidays. Elaborating further by training her guns on the Congress leadership, she mentioned that politics required continuous endeavour rather than indulging in availing long breaks intermittently. The moot point to ponder over here is whether the hurly-burly political rigmarole desists leaders from taking breaks to recharge their almost drained batteries. The answer to this question is not easy. Of course, politicians too are normal human beings like any of us and deserve breaks to be with their near and dear ones to spend quality time.

- Mind you, the political field is a veritable minefield, and a pressure-filled environment pervades all the time demanding every bit of attention from the elected representatives. God forbid if one is representing the government in an official form, there is hardly any personal time available to soak in the pleasurable indulgences. It is well documented that our very own Prime Minister has not had a single holiday in over two decades of political service by setting an example worthy of emulation. Yes, there are 24/7- and 365-days politicians who do not wish to move away from their focus of serving the people come what may.
- And there are few like the scion who never misses an opportunity to hop on to a plane to visit exotic foreign locales for days on. Each to his/her own and it also helps as to how the mind is attuned to go about our routine based on the perception. If continuous work propels the politicians to sharpen their services, so be it. In the same vein, if some others choose to take a break to relax, rejuvenate, and reenergize their present and future endeavours, that also should be welcomed. Yes, politicians should have fun and as such, let us not berate the leaders when they take a much-needed break.
