  • Since times immemorial, humanity has sustained existence perpetually courtesy of Mother Nature bestowing upon feminine power ensuring the reproduction of living beings continues without any hindrances. Yes, females are bestowed with the unique ability to produce progenies of innumerable living beings ensuring to balance the delicate existence in the vast universe. As the millennia go by, and with the advent of new technological revolutions aiding humanity to grow on an unprecedented scale, the relevance of feminine power or for that matter the role played by women hasn’t received due respect that it richly deserves. The moot point to ponder over here is why is that men are accorded preferential treatment as compared to females even now.

  • One of the possible reasons is the apparent patriarchy, misogyny, and anachronistic mindset continuing to rule the roost despite humankind undergoing unbelievable changes over millennia, especially in the last couple of centuries. The technical prowess unearthed in the last few decades has completely altered our outlook when welcoming newer inventions that have advanced humanity beyond comprehension. However, the mindset prevalent around the world still hasn’t accorded due equality despite talks of gender parity receiving enough attention. We are aware of how societies form the very basis of human settlements but failing to provide impartial and gender-neutral opportunities is still far away from being termed as one. Why is it so? Let’s dwelve.
  • In some of the most ancient societies like India, feminity is considered nothing short of divinity. The respect, reverence, and relevance bestowed on feminity in the rich heritage of India’s ancient practices are to be seen even today. However, the primacy accorded to males in several of the decision-making processes is a stark reminder of how we haven’t completely accepted the rightful place of women yet. The Indian society believes in the sacred union of Prakriti and Purusha denotes equal participation in the sustenance of any life form. Nonetheless, the underlying belief that women are restricted to essaying certain roles and incapable of handling some hasn’t changed much despite making a mark in every field, including hitherto considered male bastions.

  • Our ancient scriptures are full of tales, anecdotes, and legends about how the female form has contributed to equal measures despite supposedly lacking physical prowess in comparison to males. Has this restriction of physicality rendered women’s power any less vis-à-vis their counterparts in sustaining humankind? Not at all. Unfortunately, women are being targeted violently by perpetrating heinous sexual offences, harassment, male domination, and condescending behaviour viewing them as second citizens is a fact that hasn’t altered much on the ground. While Indian society considers the female form as no less than divinity, duly following up on this belief is still a matter of conjecture. Let’s celebrate feminity as divinity by walking through the talk. No mere lip services and denigration, please!
