  • An extraordinarily hardworking genius with a demeanor and body language giving away very little, effective without being flamboyant, unorthodox and out of the box thinker, great sense of fortitude, laudatory man-management skills, adroit in bridging elephantine egos of established senior professionals and the vulnerable wannabes, supremely fit athlete, not trading the conventional path, not playing to the gallery, never carrying burden associated with a superstar sportsman, every major trophy under his weighty kitty, and habituated to spring surprises when most unexpected.

  • Encomiums and adjectives will fail to describe what Mahindra Singh Dhoni is to Indian cricket over the past thirteen years or so and his towering contributions having morphed many defining moments in the sports that are considered no less than a religion in the country. A small town precocious talent eventually making it big in the collective imagination of the most passionate and adoring millions, who consider no less than an expert while dissecting the game threadbare and leaving behind an indelible imprint worthy list of emulations. That’s MS Dhoni.
  • Donning the mantle of the captain at a relatively young professional sporting career yet to shape into one of universal acceptance, the one significant aspect of Dhoni’s meteoric rise in the annals of Indian cricketing legend is the way he handled supremely gifted and hugely admired established stalwarts. Any captain or a team would feel blessed to have some of the biggest names to have ever graced the cricket field viz. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, and the ilk. He channeled all those collective talents into one competitive fighting force.

  • Dhoni’s immeasurable contributions especially in the white-ball cricket are not only unparalleled but also will be written in golden letters so far as Indian cricket is concerned. His glittering cupboards boasts of all the International Cricket Council (ICC) organized World Cup trophies. Right from inaugural World T20 to 50 over World Cup to Champions Trophy, respectively. Only Indian skipper to have accomplished the seemingly unconquerable feat that should take enormous efforts to replicate in the coming years.
  • Undoubtedly, Dhoni will also be credited with paving the way for the introduction of the most successful and cash-rich cricketing event in the form of the Indian Premier League after his team won the World T20 Cup beating Pakistan in 2007. Never an attractive player to watch or superlatively talented cricketer unlike his seniors or peers but enormously effective nonetheless in carrying along with the available resources at disposal to cross the finishing line with great aplomb. Appropriately defines the colossus of a player who traded the unconventional path most often than not.

  • A wonderful example of how a small-town boy can make it big in the international sporting scenario through a sheer dent of hard-work, attitude, passion, determination, and focus. Another distinctive trait that stands out is Dhoni’s unflappable temperament on display even during most pressure-filled situations and the way he handled it without never letting out emotions indeed rightfully earned him the sobriquet of Captain Cool. He has served the country with absolute distinction and will be missed for that reassuring presence that all cricketing loving people were so accustomed to.
