Clinical trials have initiated a diabetes drug that could help you to live past 120 years.
The Food and Drug Administration in America have given a green indicator to the trials of low-cost drug metformin. These kinds of diabetes drugs nurse older people with 2 kinds of diabetes. The developer of the pill’s wish that it could completely obliterate diseases like Alzheimer’s. This will also help in slowing down the process of ageing in humans. It will help them to live a life of 50 year old healthy person in their 70s.
What Researchers have to say on their Ageing Research :
Ageing expert NirBarzilai (who also funds the latest trial), the American Federation for Research on Ageing in California said “We are confident that once FDA becomes open to aging as an indication, more and better drugs will be rapidly developed. We believe that there is a great benefit for healthy life span, not only to the individual, but also for the society in the form of cost savings, which is often referred to as the longevity dividend.”
He also added: “If indeed metformin is a drug that can target the aging process, its administration should be associated with less age-related disease in general, rather than the decreased incidence of a single age-related disease.”
Research says that the diabetes drug metformin have already proven and extends the animal’s life. Now the Drug Administration wants to replicate the same effects in humans. Previous year at Cardiff University, Researchers discover that diabetes patients were given a drug test. They found that an average patient should have died eight years earlier, but they lived longer.
One of the project’s researchers, Stuart Jay Olshansky said that this procedure may take five to seven years. But the diabetes drug will not affect individual diseases, whereas it will more focus on the process of ageing in humans.
