- The whole country must have been glued to the recently concluded state assembly elections in one of the most important but backward states in the country, Bihar. We know how Bihar was once talked about in such a condescending, derogatory manner for all the ills afflicting the state, courtesy of Jungle Raj perpetrated by the erstwhile RJD satrap and the family. Most interestingly, Nitish Kumar has been at the helm of affairs for almost 20 years since the days of yore, when the law-and-order situation was perilous. However, the BJP-led NDA and JD(U) alliance has turned the once despicable/desperate situation into something everyone looks up to with improved law and order alongside visible developments on critical economic parameters.

The war cry of vote theft claims by the Congress scion against the BJP and the ECI, terming the institutional body as the agent of the ruling dispensation at the Centre, was not only vicious but also forcefully propagating an idea that has no place in the democratic credentials of the country. - The moot point to ponder over here is what happened to the so-called anti-incumbency that every poll pundit predicts before the polls, which was supposed to have rendered the Nitish Kumar government concede, simply didn’t materialize. What could be the reason? Have the political class and the leaders become experts in negating the anti-incumbency by turning the majority opinion into pro-incumbency through some smart measures before the polls? Women are the movers and shakers of every election has been proved yet again. Women coming out to vote in big numbers is a welcome sign that also signifies that none of the political parties can ignore this crucial electoral component any longer.
