Now, when you wake up to the news that one of the known Bollywood actor’s residence witnessed an intruder in the early hours of the morning in an upmarket apartment complex in a city like Mumbai is bound to be treated as sensational news.

- As you are aware, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is in the news because of the shocking news of an intruder breaking into the residence in the dead of night, causing multiple knife injuries, and simply escaping from the complex is nothing short of shocking. The moot point to ponder here is how the intruder gained access to the VIP residence without being noticed by anyone. The whole issue raises a gamut of questions viz. where the security at the entrance of the complex was, what are the safety measures implemented presently, who clears the entry/exit of visitors, what are the mechanisms in place to ensure Bonafide visitors alone are allowed entry, and most importantly, whether the security apparatus ensures all those entered have eventually exited.

- As per newspaper reports, the actor’s residence does not have CCTV cameras installed to monitor people visiting/exiting. Apparently, there are seven maids/servants staying with the actor’s family. Have these staff been recruited from an authorized agency after thoroughly verifying their antecedents? Whether proper police background checks were carried out before taking these staff on board? The police will be looking at the breaking-in from different angles to ascertain how the intruder gained access to the house. The most shocking outcome of the entire episode is the way the intruder injured Saif Ali Khan with a knife multiple times. It sends shivers down the spine to note that almost a 3-inch tip of the knife was found lodged near the spine of the actor.

- Thankfully, the doctors have successfully operated on the actor in the nick of time to ensure he stays stable despite the gravity of the injuries sustained. As is their wont, the opposition political parties and the concerned fellow actors have expressed grave reservations about the deteriorating law and order situation in Mumbai. People in the country are aware that the law-and-order situation in the country is satisfactory at the best of times despite authorities making efforts to reform the police forces earnestly. The common refrain emanating from the general public is if a high-profile personality like Saif Ali Khan can be at a receiving end, what hopes they have to evade anything bad from occurring to them. No easy answers here.
