Adjusting Steering Wheel

  1. Locate the Adjusting Lever or Knob:
    • Typically, there is a lever, knob, or another adjusting mechanism located underneath the steering column. The lever is usually on the left side of the column.
    • Some cars might have an electronic control on the side of the steering column or the dashboard.
  2. Unlock the Steering Wheel:
    • If there is a lever, pull it down or towards you to unlock the steering wheel. This will allow it to be moved up, down, in, or out.
    • If there is a knob, turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.
    • If it is an electronic control, press or toggle it to enter adjustment mode.
  3. Adjust the Steering Wheel:
    • Once unlocked, adjust the steering wheel to your preferred angle and reach. Make sure you have a clear view of the instrument cluster and that the wheel is at a comfortable distance from you.
    • Some vehicles allow both tilt (up and down) and telescopic (in and out) adjustments.
  4. Lock the Steering Wheel:
    • If using a lever, push it back up or away from you to lock the steering wheel in place.
    • If using a knob, turn it clockwise to tighten it.
    • If using electronic control, select or press the appropriate button to save the position and exit adjustment mode.

Safety Precautions:

  • Make sure the vehicle is parked with the engine off or in a safe mode while making adjustments.
  • After adjusting, double-check to ensure that the steering wheel is securely locked in place before driving.
  • Adjust the steering wheel before starting your drive; never attempt to adjust while driving as it can be very dangerous.
  • Ensure that the adjustment does not obstruct your view of the dashboard or make it difficult to reach the pedals or other controls.

Note:

This is a general guide. The exact method can vary depending on the make, model, and year of your vehicle. Always refer to your vehicle’s manual for specific instructions related to your car.
