  • In this backdrop, the revelation made by ace athlete Anju Bobby George in a tweet despite her physical inadequacies to have competed with only one kidney, allergic to even a painkiller, and with a dead take-off leg is not only unbelievable but also showcases unparalleled mental fortitude to swim against the tide to emerge triumphantly. For the uninitiated, Anju is the only Indian athlete to have won a historic bronze medal in the long jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championship in Paris. This achievement came notwithstanding Doctors advising six months rest just 20 days before the Championship is simply sensational.
  • She is also a gold medalist in the IAAF World Athletics Finals (Monaco, 2005), securing her name in the exalted annals of Indian sporting achievements inspiring thousands of wannabe athletes to overcome hurdles through a sheer dent of willpower.
