With the CBI Taking Over Investigations, Justice Should be Assumed!

  • As the entire country is aware of, the untimely death of a rising star with tons of promise, Sushant Singh Rajput, under mysterious circumstances had piqued everybody’s interest no end. As the investigation undertaken by the Mumbai Police meandered along, many twists and twirls related to the case started unfolding what with conspiracy theorists enjoying a field day relating one unconfirmed story after another. The issue of nepotism started gaining traction rather than relevant causes leading to death is a case in point.

  • The case took a further interesting turn when the father of the deceased actor filed an FIR in Patna, Bihar questioning the very direction the investigation is heading as well as naming few, for abetment of suicide, who was closely associated with his son at the time of death. There were more dramatic situations that followed changing the evolving scenario on its head. Dissatisfied the way case was delayed incongruously and upon the urgings of the actor’s father, the Bihar Government recommended handing over of the case for the CBI to inquire to unearth the truth.
  • However, the Maharashtra Government flatly refused to play the game by citing the legal jurisprudence specifying in no unambiguous terms that unless a State Government specifically requests, the case cannot be handed over to the CBI. Expressing its confidence in the Mumbai Police, the Maharashtra Government categorically ruled out bringing in the Central Agency to probe much against the wishes of the family as well as the growing chorus of supporters demanding unbiased investigations.

  • The aggrieved family approached the highest court of the land seeking unbiased investigation and justice for the departed soul. Amidst all the intriguing events churning out at a faster pace could shame the quintessential Bollywood crime thrillers, allegations and counter-allegations by the concerned parties kept playing out much to the chagrin of the concerned public rooting for fair play. Adding to the drama, the Enforcement Directorate forayed into the scene to probe allegations of financial misappropriation of the deceased actor’s funds by his girlfriend and her family members.
  • The direction of the ED probe on this angle has not yielded any incriminating pieces of evidence yet nonetheless ensured the matter stays relevant with many transactions coming under the radar. In the latest development on the case, the Supreme Court has acceded to the request of the father and as recommended by the Bihar Government to transfer the investigations to the CBI in connection with the unnatural death of the actor. Now, the political slugfest and unsubstantiated insinuations should stop at once and the CBI be allowed to carry out an unbiased inquiry. The nation will wait for the outcome.
