  • One of the biggest banes of our country is to live with no less than a pandemic like corruption that is so deeply entrenched and seamlessly merged into our day-to-day lives eliciting nothing but nonchalant acceptance and/or mere shrug-off the shoulders to move ahead. Name it cynical, pragmatic acceptance, inalienable part of the system, or plain frustration with no energy or resources or resilience left in the tank to fight over-arching arrangements that reek of dishonesty to the core.

  • There are umpteen number of efforts undertaken to address this menace that has at times gone to the extent of destabilizing the very fabric of society’s harmony and civilized co-existence expected from all of us, but unfortunately, none seems to have had an everlasting or defining alteration in our conduct or forceful opposition to eradicate the despicable practice. Millions of us wish the officials to truly follow their conscience and moral obligation to serve the public, alas, it is wishful thinking sadly.
  • Harsh experiences whilst interacting with government officials and anticipated delays without greasing the dishonest palms have rendered us equally culpable though the majority would not mind desisting if only the public servants exercise due diligence and conscientious forbearance towards the people from whose taxes their kitchen fires are lit. However, hypocrisy is so widely prevalent in the corridors of power that the same no longer evokes spiteful resentment. Meek acceptance is the adopted means now.

  • In this backdrop, emerging reports suggest how the pandemic situation is not left alone by the unscrupulous elements making every effort to garner quick bucks by playing on the minds of already stressed people infected with COVID-19 virus. It is indeed distressing to note that these shameless people are not averse to illegally ease the strict guidelines that impose curbs at a cost. Yes, you read it write. Restrictions imposed to curtail the virus can be eased for a price.
  • If you wish to avoid the Home Quarantine poster on the door, pay Rs. 3500/- to Rs. 6000/-. If you wish to avoid treatment at COVID Care Center by staying isolated within the comforts of your home, going rates range around the same amount as well. Sadly, even the scary surge in the infection rates has failed to dissuade the public authorities from seeking illegal gratifications adopting dubious means. Such irresponsible acts might not only endanger the lives of the willing participants but also innocent neighbors too.

  • Needless to mention, the Head of the Institution should initiate immediate action on the involved culprits showing no mercy. And in the meanwhile, the discerning public is advised to kindly desist from indulging in fanning the corruption fire by resisting attempts and temptations. Report the matter to concerned authorities if approached by dubious officials. Do not join hands in the heinous act.
