- One of the most talked about, mentioned, debated, and read about topics anywhere in the universe must be none other than environmental degradation leading to global warming-induced erratic weather patterns afflicting us. Global warming has become an extremely crucial topic for serious consideration for modern-day leadership across the world with every country worth their weight pulling in all stops to ensure humanity holistically addresses this glaring anomaly. Efforts are afoot around the world to coopt every concerned entity including the United Nations to front up for the human follies plaguing humankind. The erratic weather patterns leading to catastrophic consequences have become alarmingly regular of late.

- None of the countries are spared from the increasingly inconsistent and irregular weather that has disturbed the monsoon patterns too. India is still an agriculture-oriented country largely dependent on monsoons to shore up crop production. We are aware of the perils of irregular monsoon afflicting Indian crop season leading to cascading effects. The economy is bound to be affected even as the Union Government struggles to ensure the aspirational society lives up to its promises of becoming the top three largest economies in the world. Come to think of it, if India truly believes in reaching the much-coveted developed nation status by 2047, the weather patterns will have to be consistent enough to produce crops on expected lines. Simple.

- Unfortunately, what has been witnessed over the last few years is the increased heatwaves around the globe leading to disastrous outcomes. We know the reasons for global warming courtesy of greenhouse gases. Take for instance a city like Bengaluru which is endowed with moderate weather throughout the year, known for its salubrious climate, and normally pleasant conditions driving droves of people to settle in the city. Not for nothing, Bengaluru was monikered as the garden city of India and the Silicon Valley of India. However, what is becoming increasingly obvious is the changing temperatures in the last few years. The heatwave-like conditions were alien to Bengaluru. Bengaluru residents had heard about heatwaves tormenting people up North.

- Worryingly, Bengaluru is also witnessing heat waves when the temperature is touching unbearable levels during summer months. Monsoon rains have become erratic with heavy downpours accompanied by a lull leading to a drinking water crisis. The city used to experience a nip in the air during winter months accompanied by fog, mist, and cold breeze. This year the city hardly experienced anything of the same with even comforters feeling uncomfortable during the peak winter months like December/January. Not only this, by mid-February, the city has seen a rise in the temperatures making us wonder whether summer has already set in. The weather will only get worse in the coming years. Are we prepared to handle the repercussions? Not at all.
