  • Every election in the context of the Indian political system is a test of nerves and an opportunity to establish footprints in the hurly-burly world representing the diversity of unimaginable proportions. The beauty of Indian democracy and the associated politics is defined by a unique combination of caste, creed, religion, ethnicity, language, culture, tradition, and history from one region to another. Thus, every state assembly election is equally crucial to ensure that a particular region is well administered once the electorate chooses their elected representatives. As you are aware, the Indian political firmament comprises two major national parties and several regional parties that are equally strong. The battle between the two national parties is well documented.

Their Overconfidence Hurt MVA': Uddhav Sena Leader Blames Congress For Maharashtra Debacle - News18

  • Undoubtedly, the recently concluded state assembly elections in Maharashtra entail tremendous outcomes not only for the region but also for the country as well.  Remember, Maharashtra is one of the most developed states in the country and the capital city of Mumbai generates almost 40% of India’s revenue. No wonder, Mumbai is termed the financial capital of India. Now, people closely following the fortunes of Maharashtra politics would have noticed how the two regional parties in the form of Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party split up courtesy of defections in the last few years. Subsequently, the name and symbols too went in favour of the defectors. As you know, the BJP had two new allies and went to the polls with renewed confidence.

Congress' failure proof that it has refused to learn from past mistakes

  • Indeed, the people have delivered an unambiguous result favouring the Mahayuti led by the BJP. The overwhelming majority of the Mahayuti firmly establishes the BJP-led alliance in the saddle for the next five years. However, the outcome must have come as a big disappointment to Congress who were hoping the alliance comprising Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray would deliver results at the hustings. The results show this belief has been shattered big time. The narrative propagated by the Congress leadership, especially Rahul Gandhi, about the Constitution, Adani Group’s alleged proximity to the top BJP leadership, and bandying caste census at every opportunity spectacularly failed to gain traction with the electorate.

Arrogance, entitlement': Allies mock Congress over Haryana election debacle | Latest News India - Hindustan TimesPC:Hindustan Times

  • Mind you, winning the Haryana assembly election was considered a foregone conclusion but the way BJP bounced back to stun the poll pundits should have alerted the Congress leadership to not take things for granted. Maharashtra polls were supposed to yield results similar to how the INDI alliance emerged triumphant during the Parliamentary election. Nonetheless, in a stunning reversal, the BJP not only trounced the opposition overwhelmingly but also showcased the saffron brigade’s election machinery is relentlessly chugging along to capture unheralded territories. Also, no political parties in the country can take the people for granted and show even an iota of complacency. The Congress must go back to the boardroom to regroup their strategies.
