  • The much-awaited election to the presidency of the United States of America is behind us with the thumping victory of the mercurial Donald Trump against the popular perception/opinion/expectation from the poll pundits. Yes, it would be tantamount to an understatement to mention that the whole world was glued to know the eventual outcome of the most important election. Now, soon after the victory, President-elect Donald Trump has shown a definite hurry in chalking out his administration team by identifying key figures to run the show. Notably, one of the most visible optics leading up to the election was the support extended by the richest man in the world, Elon Musk to Trump’s candidature. This was an interesting development.

  • Elon Musk’s unconditional support – both figuratively and financially – must be substantial, to say the least. As such, a quid pro quo cannot be ruled out since the businessman would not have extended a hand of friendship without having thought about extracting something in return. Think about it, those focused on Musk’s bromance with Trump are forgetting what makes the former tick, a shrewd and intelligent mind. As you are aware, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has already created substantial buzz with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy headlining the newly created watchdog to reduce government spending. Musk’s DOGE role will be on top of SpaceX, Tesla, Starlink, Neuralink, X, and other companies’ active leadership.
  • Yes, the conspiracy theory that makes the most sense is that the man has somewhat built himself days longer than 24 hours. His helmsmanship has altered the course of different future-oriented industries. This is not about business acumen alone. It is also about a gifted mind figuring out complex engineering questions. Musk is deeply involved in technical decisions. Attempting to make a reality out of tech-augmented human brains and Mars colonial architecture, simultaneously, speaks to extraordinary skill set and iconoclasm. One set of rules Musk does respect is physics. For him, the physics approach is to boil things down to the first principles in a particular area, and then reason up from there.

  • Mind you, conventional minds can find this approach, and the Cartesian doubt underpinning it, both unfamiliar and uncomfortable. Culturally, such uncommon titans are always built as both superheroes and supervillains. The global community is also aware of how Musk is not the low-ego compassionate boss that many HR manuals promise. The world is treated to a live feed of Musk’s brilliant, and sometimes, belligerent mind. He doesn’t mind talking about shooting himself in the foot so often he ought to buy some Kevlar boots. That’s the man for you. And if the high-octane bromance with Trump goes bad, Musk will still be a Musk – meaning, he’ll be sending a lot more re-engineering the world’s way. Yes, businessmen can be good administrators too.
