Especially, the win in West Bengal must rank as the icing on the cake, as the erstwhile Trinamool Congress (TMC) was in the saddle for three successive terms. Learning from the previous mistake of projecting the party as a Delhi-controlled Ram Mandir-driven campaign, the campaign led by local leaders on local issues proved to be a masterstroke for the BJP.

The TMC suffered a major political split following its humiliating defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections.
