No Politics Please – Let’s Stand United During National Crises

• Escalating matrix with the Chinese fomented trouble mongering in Galwan Valley comes at the most inopportune time when the entire nation is grappling with the rising pandemic, incidentally originating from the hinterland of China, testing the country’s resolve in facing multiple challenges simultaneously. Though the face-off has dragged on for more than a month now, casualties reported from both sides now portends troublesome times ahead.

• After a prolonged duration of two and a half months, the country rebooted to commence stalled economic activities amidst growing concerns of the infection rates seeing a sudden surge and when it appeared the issue will be tackled adequately comes the news about Chinese inexplicable transgressions. It can be observed with trepidation that Beijing has indeed been at it consistently creating / throwing hurdles at every given opportunity for the past few years.
• The country is also witnessing to brazenness and high-handedness with which our neighbor has thwarted every move to not only embarrass us but also trivialize at some of the major international platforms including the United Nations. All those talks about growing bonhomie, courtesy informal summits, and amid renewed chants of Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai sounds completely hollow in the face of open animosity and indiscretions displayed in the instant case.

• With the weakening of the traction and heft of erstwhile sole superpower USA enjoyed in the global state of affairs, the Chinese are growing increasingly aggressive by flexing its considerable economic muscles acquired over the last few years as well as bullying all and sundry into submission or forcing to toe propagated lines. Incumbent President of the USA to a large extent has to shoulder responsibilities for allowing China to gain significant presence through his often eccentric and irrational temperamental disposition.
• Such behavior has helped many countries gravitate towards China truly altering the global equations dramatically. This has allowed emerging prowess of China’s bargaining power globally that it so desperately craves to usurp. Undeniably, we as a nation have to safeguard our own interests without letting our neighbor to dictate terms to us too.  Time for soft-pedaling on matters concerning LAC is definitely behind us as the supreme sacrifices of our brave martyr’s should not go waste under the guise of realpolitik and expediency.

• As such, it is incumbent on the part of all political leaders cutting across party lines to speak the uniform language and express unadulterated solidarity with the Union Government by fully supporting whatever stand taken in the best interest of the nation. Situation demands to stay together in these difficult times and as civilian masters, all political leaders are duty-bound to remain solidly behind our proud Armed Forces in thwarting ill-conceived enemy moves as also retorting if the need arises.  Hopefully, the misadventures of China will be called out.  Jai Hind!
