Yes! Finally, Sanjay Dutt aka Munna Bhai would be walking out tomorrow as a free man. He served 42 months as a result of his five-year-sentence after he was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. He would be released tomorrow. There were many controversies which came up during his jail tenure like being accused of special treatment, regular paroles and similar things. Nonetheless, Sanjay Dutt would be walking out tomorrow. Sanjay Dutt To Be Released Today
1.Sanjay Dutt was arrested on 19th April, 1993 when he was found possessing an AK-56 rifle, as well was charged for hiding arms and explosives which landed in India before the serial blasts of March 1993.
2.During the investigation he had spent 18 months in jail. On 31st July 2007, TADA court in Mumbai sentenced him to six years’ imprisonment under the Arms act as well imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000.
3.In 2013, the supreme court reduced the sentence to five years, and during his imprisonment he was granted parole of 90days (December 2013) and another parole for 30days later.
4.According to his lawyers, Sanjay Dutt’s remission days were calculated in accordance with jail manual and rules. UT Pawar, Yerwada Jail Superintendent said that he would be released tomorrow (February 25) in the morning at about 10.00 am. After following the normal procedures which has to followed by every prisoner who has completed his sentence and jail term.
5.Pawar also denied allegations that the jail authorities had given Dutt a special treatment during his stay because he was a celebrity. He further added that Sanjay Dutt was treated just like any other convict.
6.Ram Shinde, Maharashtra minister of state said that Sanjay Dutt would be completing his jail term on 25th February, after counting in the 8 months and 16 days which he earned as an exemption on account of good behaviour in prison.
7.Sanjay Dutt had earned around Rs.38,000 during his 5 year imprisonment tenure but he spent most of the amount of buying daily use items from the jail canteen. The balance to be paid to him is just Rs. 450.
