When you were a baby, your parents were as manipulative as they could get. For this manipulative behavior, there were several reasons; but the main reason was that you were a big pain as a toddler in their life! And I bet, almost every toddler’s parents tricked them atleast once a day during their childhood. Toddlers do not see reasons and therefore, the only way parents could make them do the things they want was through manipulation. So every time, the parents used to come out with an innovative technique, which sometimes even surprised themselves too! Here is a list of 7 ways your parents tricked you when you were a baby:
1. Open your mouth, here comes the aeroplane!
Or else open the mouth, here comes the train! Choo choo! We used to happily open the mouth to let the plane and train in. And then we find that we were cheated so that they can feed us that tasteless baby food!
2. LOL! Nothing happened! Nothing.
Whenever a baby falls down and if the fall is bad, the baby cries hard. But our smart parents used to laugh hard and we wanted to cry; but their laughs also make us laugh at that time. No matter how much pain we were going through, we usually ended up laughing with them!
3. Hitting non-living things to make us feel better
If you tripped over something or fell down; they will just start hitting the table on which you banged the head or the floor on which you fell down. Somehow this made you feel better because it was not known to you that table and floor cannot feel the beating!
4. Eat your food! Or Gabbar aa jayega!
The most usual scary things of childhood were Tiger, Chudail, Bhoot, Gabbar or watchman uncle. The chudail will definitely take away the baby, with Gabbar you will gonna end up as a bandit, the tiger would eat you and the bhoot will gonna do God-knows-what! And all this scared the hell out of you and then you usually eat everything served to you.
5. ‘Udhar dekho!’ while getting injections
Yeah, those injections used to hurt a lot, especially when we were a toddler. The parents tricked us usually with ‘udhar dekho (look over there) helicopter, aeroplane!’ And we were like ‘where, where?’ And by that time the injection work got over and then they tell that you will definitely see them the next time.
6. If you don’t do XYZ, you will not get any chocolate!
Its the best trick of the parents in order to control our minds during our childhood. ‘If you don’t put all the toys in that basket, you will not gonna get any chocolate!’ And you were like ‘oohh! Chocolate!’ I will do whatever you want mommy for all those chocolates, yummy!
7. After you cleaned something, OMG! You are the best, first prize!
Basically, any good thing done by you was rewarded with all the cutest and sweetest compliments they could give. And in the end, you used to feel that you are the best in the whole world for doing all those good things.
Another trick used by parents to make you brush is that ‘if you don’t brush your teeth, you will going to wake up in another place!’ And this was another scary trick, which worked almost all the time.
